Early morning bike ride

Yesterday it rained on and off for most of the day......cool and damp.

Today we woke early to clear skies....and a cool 8 Celsius. Leah and I decided to go for a morning bike ride. At around 650am in the morning it was a safe bet Tyler and Karlee would not be interested....one look at them tucked in their duvet covers it was confirmed....not going to happen. ( it is now 910am....nothing has changed)

We wiped off the seats and started a ride.  The camp ground was very quiet at this time of  the morning. We rode to a secluded area of the park. In no time we observed two small Elk calf's and the mother laying under a huge cedar. The two little ones perked their ears as Leah took some photo's. The mother only moved when the shutter went off. From less than 50 feet away they did not seem bothered. As we rode off we could see the papa Elk standing behind the cedar keeping watch.

We took the trail Leah and Kj took a couple nights earlier..... I was a little concerned...bears and I don't match. We saw a young deer having it's morning chew. The animals must be very accustomed to humans.... The deer did not mind us even when we passed.

We found a new lookout area a couple km from the campground. Once again an absolutely incredible view. It appears that there was fresh snow on the peaks from overnight.

We returned...kids still snuggled and sleeping away.

Leah is getting breaky ready and then it's off to Lake Louise for the day.

The iPad indicated clear skies and 21 for a high.
